Organ printing and ethical considerations

Last Monday, I had an interesting conversation with one of my students and I need to write it down before I forget it. He mentioned he had a 3D printer and I asked what he could print with it. He mentioned a number of things and then I asked if it could be possible to print human organs one day. The inspiration of this idea partly came from the second season of TV series Black Orphan because the company in that series was specialised in printing organs. My student did not know the answer but he proposed the idea that we should clone human bodies without brain se we could harness their organs. Then I was thinking and said yeah…why not?

A human body without brain does not have thoughts or emotions, it is a living thing but would not have consciousness. There are a lot of people suffering from lethal diseases, those who had an accident and they are bedridden and waiting for a new organ. The waiting list is very long and this kind of technology couléd save a lot of lives. So why do we not clone human bodies and keep them in special containers, preserve and cut out their organs? The only problem that we could not deal with is the nerve system: it is so complicated I do not think it could be just taken out from the body. Also, how would we clone a body without the nerve system?
