Since I can’t keep the following things to myself, I decided to share. There are things I don’t understand about traffic.
I’m driving on a crappy road. It’s really bad, full of potholes, pits, and craters. I’m going very slowly because if I went even a bit faster, it would wreck the entire suspension on this ‘road.’ Meanwhile, I see someone tailgating me. I’m not going faster for them. I’m not going to ruin the chassis or slam the wheel into the body because of these enormous potholes. By the time there’s room to pass, the other car revs up, accelerates, throwing up gravel like crazy, speeding off, not caring about the road. I don’t understand people like that. Do they not care that the crappy road is destroying their car? Does it not bother them that the road is wrecking the shocks, the control arms, basically everything? Are they not bothered that their car is falling apart on the road? (It was another Skoda Octavia, by the way).
It’s a cold winter morning. I warm up the car, wait a few minutes (turbocharged gasoline). Then I start driving, but I go slowly, at low RPM, so as not to harm the turbo or the cold engine at high RPM. Then I see my neighbor 1 going out, getting into the car, starting it, pulling out, and immediately hitting the gas – the car hasn’t even fully warmed up. Oh, and it’s a diesel. Neighbor 2 does the same. Do people really have so much money and time that they can afford to take their cars to service? Do they really not care?
I’m driving on the highway at 120 km/h. From far away, I see cars approaching me at a high speed and flashing their lights. Why the hell do they only slow down when they’re just about 10 meters behind me? Why don’t they brake gradually when they see I’m overtaking slower? By the time they pass me, they speed away at a high speed, the cameras are there above the road, but they don’t care. They don’t give a damn about the fine.
And finally, I have never understood why some people play with their clutch in the manual transmission car at the red light. What they do is to swing the car back and forth. This kind of habit damages the clutch tremendously – it will be overused much more quickly. I never do this because I know how easily the clutch can wear out and I try to use it as rarely as I can. I can think of two reasons for this. These people are impatient or frustrated and they just cannot wait. Furthermore, they are very rich and they do not care if their car is being damaged – they will just have it fixed and they just do not give a shit to it. Or are they just idiots? Although this stupid habit irritates me, there is nothing I can do except vent about it.
Conclusion: people have damn too much money, they don’t care about anything, and everyone is God on the road.
On the other hand, I have to admit that I am a slow, annoying asshole and it is a fact – but I have already gave my reasons.
