We woke up a bit earlier than usual because my wife and her sister were planning to share the news of my wife’s pregnancy with their family. The thing is, only her sister knew about it until then. We called them early in the morning—around 6 a.m.—which was lunchtime in the Philippines. We tried to get everyone to sit down, but things were a bit chaotic on their end, so it was hard to have a proper conversation. Still, they got the message—and of course, they were both shocked and overjoyed. They gave us some funny advice and asked a few questions about the baby.
After that, I went to get the car washed—it hadn’t been cleaned in over a year. It was great to see it sparkling again. Driving back to my hometown in such a clean car would definitely feel good.
Later, I visited the Office of Family Support to inquire about a family tax benefit, but it turned out that my wife’s workplace will handle that, not the government office I went to. So far, everything is going smoothly, thankfully.
