To complete a subject, we had to visit ancient Roman ruins of Pannonia in Budapest. Pannonia was a Roman province that included parts of modern-day western Hungary, including the area around today’s Budapest. The Romans built forts, roads, and settlements along the Danube River, which acted as a border of the empire. The area was important for trade and military defense. In Budapest, evidence of Roman Pannonia can still be seen in archaeological sites, such as the remains of fortresses, baths, and roads, showing how the Romans shaped the region’s early history.
The sad thing is we could only see foundations and it was hard to imagine what that place looked like in Roman times. But the guide was an archaeologist and he gave us a really good insight into that world. He gave us descriptions of some statues – which were still there -, the barracks and the foundations of an old sanctuary.
After the tour, I went to a local pharmacy to buy saline solution for our baby because she has some phlegm so she can inhale it to dissolve it. Then I went home.
