I read in The Guardian that Elon Musk’s brain implant company, Neuralink, had received FDA approval for its first in-human clinical study after earlier struggles to gain approval. The FDA initially rejected the application but later gave the green light. The approval is a critical milestone for the company, which aims to treat severe conditions like paralysis and blindness with its brain implant. The FDA had raised concerns about the device’s battery, wire migration, and safe extraction.
Neuralink has been the subject of federal investigations and lawmakers are urging regulators to look into animal testing practices. Despite the approval, Neuralink clarified that it is not yet open for a clinical trial. Elon Musk has outlined an ambitious plan for Neuralink, envisioning surgical implants to cure various conditions and enable advanced capabilities.
I have no faith in Elon Musk and I would not try out a neuroimplant like this. The tests simply aren’t enough for me to be convinced, and I could never agree to having something implanted inside my head. It doesn’t feel natural, and I believe it would interfere with our brains in an unnatural way. It is not something that our brains were designed for and I believe that it could interfere with our neurological processes.
Humans are biological beings, I do not think they can be forced to become biorobots.
