After recovering from a terrible stomach infection, now this new symptom starts to drive me crazy. I have a single jerk EVERY SINGLE time I am falling asleep jolting me awake. I am longing for restful sleep so much and it is impossible. When I take a Xanax – that is the only thing that pushes me to sleep, but with difficulty as well, it does not always work. I am really going crazy, but what can I do? I tried literally all ranges of vitamins, electrolytes, and natural medications from hops, melatonin, tryptophan, and all, the jerks just come automatically as if programmed. I am very very desperate, and I do not know what could stop this.
I took dymenhydrinate and metoclopramide for nausea and I hope it is not their side effect. I read an article that both medications can have neurological side effects.
Dimenhydrinate, commonly used to prevent motion sickness, can potentially cause drowsiness, dizziness, and confusion. In some cases, it may also lead to more severe neurological symptoms such as tremors, involuntary muscle movements, or even seizures.
Metoclopramide, primarily used to treat gastrointestinal disorders like nausea and vomiting, can also have neurological effects. It works by affecting dopamine receptors in the brain. While it is generally well-tolerated, it has the potential to cause side effects such as restlessness, anxiety, and involuntary muscle movements, including repetitive or twisting motions known as tardive dyskinesia. Tardive dyskinesia is a rare but serious condition that may occur with prolonged use of metoclopramide.
Well, the last one applies to prolonged use. I only took six pills.
I am going to the GP soon.
