I have never understood why sources are always needed. But what if I write everything OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD, from my own brain, coming up with the ideas myself?! What if I am the source?
Just because someone writes from their own mind, why would they need sources? I never understood why I had to use sources when I wrote my own paper and wanted to write my own theories and thoughts.
What if I tell my supervisor that there are no sources because I wrote it all from my own brain?!
I, for one, could write about many things without any sources, even in an academic style. For a thesis, it should be forbidden to use any sources. There’s no point in writing a thesis if everyone just copies each other.
I don’t understand why it’s so difficult to accept if someone writes on their own, without sources. Moreover, why isn’t this a systemic requirement? This way, the whole world just copies each other, rewriting each other’s nonsense. I don’t see the point in this.
However, it does make sense if someone shares their own views, ideas, reflects, suggests, advises, thinks, analyzes, notices, thinks further, theorizes, draws conclusions, because all of this is not just repetition of what others say.
I would demand that, if it’s NOT research, the use of sources should be prohibited, and only one’s own thoughts should be allowed to be written.

Your perspective raises an interesting debate on the role of personal creativity in academic writing. While it’s admirable to advocate for original thought, sources often lend credibility and provide a foundation for one’s ideas. The academic community values a blend of personal insight and well-researched information. Perhaps finding a balance between individual reflections and supporting evidence could enhance the richness of academic discourse. It’s a nuanced discussion, and the challenge lies in fostering a system that encourages both independent thought and scholarly rigor. 📚💡
