Quest for Attila’s Tomb: journey through history with Expedition Unknown

I like documentaries on history. One of my favourite ones is Expedition Unknown hosted by an explorer and a history enthusiast. The last episode that I saw was about the hidden tomb of Attila the Hun. He was a feared leader of the army of the Huns and he may have played a role in the fall of Rome. Their search started in the river Danube because some historical sources say he may have been in the riverbed. The team searched for the tomb with state of the art sonar device and they even submerged into the water. The only thing they found was a metal chest from the Second World War. The researcher leading this exploration will continue searching in the river.

Another possible location may be in the Pilis mountains and they did find a cave, which seemed human made from the inside. But unfortunately, they ended that expedition empty-handed. According to the scientific theory, if you find Árpád’s tomb, you will find Attila’s tomb. As far as I remember, Árpád was a descendant of Attila who deeply respected him and followed his steps. Following this train of thought, it is possible that Árpád’s tomb is next to Attila’s tomb. This theory is often repeated in the episode. The third possible location was in a forested area where a team led by rock singer Levente Szörényi is excavating. Again, the team found nothing in the episode but they did find kitchen tools from the Roman era so the location was inhabited. It was good to see how enthusiastic and well-spirited the search for Attila’s tomb is going on even today. Hopefully they will find something.
