A cozy Christmas Eve

My wife and I usually have the same traditions on Christmas Eve. We usually order food since it is practical and allows us to select exactly what we like. On some occasions, we get presents from our families, but this time we did not, as we were planning to meet them after Christmas. As you can see, our families all reside in different places.

We had been watching Christmas movies when the delivery person arrived with our order at midday. We took a break to have lunch and a glass of warm wine on the balcony. We chatted and savoured the hot drink.

Following that, we went back inside, continuing our movie marathon until we both had a nap. When we awoke, we had a light snack then got up and danced to some classic jolly Christmas songs. I have to tell you, I am very bad at dancing. Anyway, I promised her I would dance with her again the following day. Then, we called my family to ask how they were spending their evening.

Then my wife’s family called her who had been savouring their meals together. After they had finished eating, they were in good spirits and started exchanging gifts. My sister-in-law’s son proved to be the life of the party and we all shared a lot of laughs.

We ended our talk by having dinner. Later, we stayed up a bit and watched something. It was a beautiful day overall.

From this experience, I learned the importance of cherishing and enjoying quality time spent with loved ones, especially during special occasions like Christmas Eve. Despite not receiving presents from our families due to plans to meet them later, my wife and I found joy in our shared traditions and activities.

We appreciated the simplicity and practicality of ordering food for Christmas Eve, allowing us to focus on spending time together rather than worrying about cooking. The spontaneous decision to take a break on the balcony, enjoy lunch and warm wine, and engage in heartfelt conversation further emphasized the value of savoring the present moment and creating cherished memories together.

Additionally, we discovered the power of spontaneity and playfulness in our relationship, as evidenced by our impromptu dance session. Despite feeling self-conscious about my dancing skills, I embraced the moment and made a promise to continue sharing such joyful experiences in the future.

Furthermore, we witnessed the beauty of family connections, as both our and my wife’s families reached out to share their own Christmas traditions and festivities. The laughter and camaraderie shared during these interactions reinforced the importance of maintaining strong bonds with family members, even when separated by distance.

Overall, this experience taught us to find joy in the simple pleasures of life, to cherish the company of loved ones, and to embrace spontaneity and playfulness in our relationship. It was a beautiful day filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
