We were a bit worried today because we had to take our baby to the hospital for an eye examination. The district nurse noted that our baby often looked downwards, which is an indicator of the setting-eyes phenomenon that can be sign of hydrocephalus. I do not have to say that my health anxiety was spiking.
The pediatrician did not see the phenomenon but she sent us to the ophthalmology department anyway. There, some doctors checked her eyes but they did not see anything suspicious. But it was so sweet that some elderly people stopped to admire a bit our baby. I mean, they said she was cute, which gave us a heartwarming feeling.
Anyway, after the eye examination, we were redirected to the neurology where another doctor took a look at her. After the test, she said there was nothing wrong with this child. She just has big eyes and she sometimes looks downwards because she focuses. She has seen hundreds of cases and this is definitely not abnormal. We went home from the hospital with such joy.
Now this is such a great relief.
