A feast of Filipino friendship and traditions

Today, we had some guests. We have some Filipino friends who we sometimes meet with. When we gather together, we usually eat and chat. My wife was preparing all day because she wanted to cook some Filipino food. The afritada smelled good as opposed to the dried fish. But I do not mind its smell anyway. We just opened the window, so the neighbours would not smell it.

I told them about our trip to the Philippines, mentioning Boracay and Davao. Our next gathering will take place next weekend in the local community centre. They will bring their families, so we will be more. These days we are preparing with some gifts to give to each other as we had drawn names online earlier. This is our habit and we do this every year. We just have a price limit so we do not have to buy expensive gifts (I could not do it anyway, haha).

I think we have a wonderful tradition of gathering with our Filipino friends and sharing delicious food. The anticipation of our upcoming gathering and the exchange of gifts also brings excitement and joy. What I like about these gatherings is that we learn about what is happening in the life of our friends. Of course, we do not share private things, just some interesting facts and of course, I appreciate more the Filipino culture.

I think it is great to have a space where we can catch up our friends and learn about their lives. The exchange of interesting facts and the appreciation for Filipino culture make these gatherings even more special. What specific aspects of the your culture do you find most fascinating and why?
