I despise those people who wear fur coats, leather shoes or other products made from animal skin. It is a barbaric thing to do; animals are killed for their skin and people wear them proudly. What is this if not a primitive, cruel way of thinking? Killing so you can just wear the skin out of fashion? It is insane.
On the other hand, there is a debate over using animals in medical research. It is also cruel but I think this is for the greater good. We need to know what certain chemicals can cause because they can be lethal on humans. I am not saying that humans are superior to animals. I am just saying that we live in a more conscious way and we want to understand the secrets of biochemistry.
The cosmetics though, that is a different thing. There is no reason at all for perfumes and body sprays to be tested on animals. These products are not life and death products, we could live without them. Oils, creams are more important and I consider them to be justified to be used on animals provided they do not cause harm and pain to them.
Another thing that I would put a ban on are circuses. There is absolutely no need for this kind of entertainment. Having fun by watching animals suffering? Because yes, they suffer: their confined space, their imprisonment are torture and it is sad that some people enjoy this.
Guide dogs are useful. They can assist blind people to a surprisingly great extent. When I see them how skillful and smart they are in the street when leading their owner, I am always amazed.
Spending money on pets or animal conversation and helping people in need should be balanced out. Animals are just as living entities as humans so helping both is morally right in my opinion.
