Boracay Bliss

Today, we went to Boracay. It is a small tropical island located in the Philippines, in the Western Visayas region. Since Boracay is often considered one of the most beautiful beach destinations in the world, I was really excited to see this place and we were not disappointed: its stunning white sandy beach, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant nightlife was absolutely impressing.

The huge palm trees along the beach, the huge sailing boats and the mountains in the distance were spectacular.

By the way, the island is roughly 7 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide and is divided into three main stations: Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3, each offering a different atmosphere and a range of accommodations, restaurants, and activities. Station 2 is the most bustling area and is known for its shopping and nightlife, while Station 1 is quieter and more laid-back, with upscale resorts. Station 3 is the southernmost and the most peaceful of the three.

As I observed, tourists visit Boracay for various water activities, including swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, kiteboarding, and windsurfing. In the evening, on White Beach we all enjoyed the picturesque sunset.

We spent most of our time at Station 1 but my wife and I visited Station too at night and I have to tell you it had a bustling night life: there were hundreds of shops, small squares and people everywhere. There was some music festival too, which added more to the lively atmosphere. Of course, I could not let the night go without another mango shake.

I was told that Boracay went through a period of rehabilitation and temporary closure in 2018 to address environmental issues and overcrowding. The government imposed strict regulations to preserve the island’s natural beauty and sustainable tourism. In January 2022, Boracay had reopened to tourists, with stricter regulations in place to manage the number of visitors and protect its fragile ecosystem.

This decision could not have been wiser.
