Look at Afghanistan. The Taliban are beating women, there’s complete oppression, and publicly listening to music is forbidden, as they stone people for it. If you wear jeans, they whip you. Does anyone care? No.
Even if slaves were chained up, they wouldn’t care, neither here nor there.
Does anyone care about the total oppression in North Korea? No. I think here too, in Hungary, the arrival of a similar regime, or the Putinist system, would come smoothly, casually, without any hindrance.
I can also imagine the withdrawal from the EU before that, and from NATO as well. In this case, we would definitely end up in the arms of the Russians, like a puppet state.
Here, a few million people fanatically believe in this, a state where they’re ready to sacrifice everything for Viktor Orbán. We should finally accept that these people can’t be helped – they are like this, and they will stand by him to the extreme, no matter how hard you beat yourself to the ground.
Oh, and their numbers will only grow, whether you like it or not – government policies ensure that.
The only thing that can be done is to determine the point when we will leave Hungary. For now, we are fine here, the threshold is far off for me. I don’t care about the whole thing, I live my own life.
For me, these critical points will be when we would leave:
Leaving the EU or NATO would be the limit or battery factory are built everywhere and there’s nowhere to move because of them. If the water supply was completely messed up because of them, that would be a terrible thing. Another factor would be aligning with the Soviets in all areas – there would be more Russian companies and businesses than Western ones. These would be my critical points.
But even then, we would definitely leave if they restricted the internet and put up an iron curtain.
Until these things happen, I don’t care about anything and will only focus on ourselves.
