I remember when I was a kid, we used to eat together. It was like a must to sit together and have our lunch or dinner together. There was nothing wrong with it. What is more, we had more interactions with each other and sometimes it was fun. But later on, when I became a teenager I improved a habit of having my meal in my own room. It was more convenient and I felt having dinner together a bit cringe. But this comes with being a teenager.
Before my wife, I ate alone. Before our child, it depended on our schedule. Sometimes we ate together, sometimes not but whenever we go on holiday, having a meal is our important social event. It is intimate and fun.
But if you look around, food is important in all social contexts. Think about wedding, outing, business meeting or going out. And of course, all families have their own eating habit. Nowadays ours is pretty disorganized because it is difficult to arrange meals at home but I am looking forward to the moment when we develop a system.
