The First Heartbeat

I received incredible news while I was at school. My wife called me from the fertility clinic—she had gone in that morning to check if the embryo had a heartbeat. And it did.

She told me she started shaking when she heard it for the first time. She had to shift slightly on the examination bed, and the doctor thought she was nervous—but in reality, she was just overwhelmed with happiness. Afterwards, she went to the bathroom and cried, just to let it all sink in.

For me, it was a huge relief too. After everything, we had finally made it to this point. My mind immediately jumped ahead—I was already thinking about finding a gynecologist and worrying about the schedule of the upcoming tests. But after we hung up, I stepped into the bathroom myself and just took a quiet moment. It was one of those milestone moments in our journey.

Now we just have to stay careful and move forward one step at a time.

Joy often comes quietly after long struggles—and it’s okay to pause and truly feel it.
