Three people are killed in flash floods in Slovenia

I read on RTV Slo that Slovenia is facing severe flooding, with heavy and prolonged rainfall causing extensive damage. The Sava River has reached record flow rates, and the situation is critical in various regions. Three casualties have been reported. Defense Minister Marjan Šarec has activated an emergency plan, deploying the Slovenian Armed Forces to assist. People are urged to stay off the roads and respect closures due to dangerous flooding. The situation is expected to gradually improve, but challenges persist, especially in southern and southeastern areas.

It must be straight-up devastating to have your crib washed away by a flood. My wife went through that in the Philippines when she was younger, and she told me how heavy it was to lose their home. Facing a flood you can’t control, knowing it’s going to wipe out everything you’ve worked for, that’s some tough stuff. What can you do, right? You just try to salvage what really matters to you, I guess.

It also makes me think about the trip my wife and I are planning to Italy in September, passing through Slovenia from Hungary. We’ll see if it’s safe to roll through there or if it’s still dicey.
