We had a weekend house at a lakeside not far from my hometown where I used to fish with my uncle and cousin and some of my relatives when I was a child.
It was a joyful experience as I eagerly waited for a fish to latch on to my bait. We talked and laughed as we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the lake. It was fun to put the fish into the bucket of water that we brought with us.
But we never kept the fish we caught. We would just throw them back in the water for the fun of it. I only ever brought home a few to put in our garden pond back home. It seemed like a good way to fill it up with some new visitors.
My uncle and my other relative enjoy going fishing and always cook what they catch. On occasion, they even are lucky enough to catch some really big fish.
I was exposed to fishing for the first time when I attended a camp for kids that held a fishing tournament. We had basic tools, but that was it. I was with my cousin, and we were able to snag a few small fish – nothing else.
