Last week, one of my groups at school did not have very good results on their test. They blamed me for not giving enough time, not explaining things clearly, not talking loud enough, not involving them in the class work and so on. They just came up with hundreds of excuses. The thing is, these particular students did not really care about history or anything else at all besides their gossips and their phones. They even wanted another teacher. Meanwhile, some other students got the highest grade because they did study and they did not sing in class and they did care what I was talking about.
It was later discovered that they had access to the answer key for the test that my other group had completed. But the truth is that I switched the order of the questions, which is why they came up badly. And they had blamed me like that and told me things which were below the belt. The cried and acted hysterically, making me feel guilty.
My point is that a lot of children, even those who are 14 years old, are excellent liars and manipulators. From now on, I will be hard on them and my friendliness is no more.
